Austin, TX | Catalysts of Movement

“We're seeing ordinary believers become disciple-makers. We're seeing new believers immediately begin discipling others.”

Over the past few months, Novo South Texas has officially crossed the threshold of becoming a gospel movement, with more than 300 Discovery Groups and churches now connected to the movement.

This movement isn’t built around just one or two “professional” Christians. Instead, it’s being fueled by everyday disciple-makers who are following Jesus into the places they already live, work, learn, and play.

Amy Taylor and Gail Henderson, who have served with Novo for several years, felt Jesus inviting them to become catalysts in Austin. Rather than building ministries around themselves, they began looking for people God was already raising up. They identify people who are ready to take a step, equip and encourage them along the way, and connect them with others who can help them keep multiplying. And they’re looking for something even bigger: people who can become catalysts themselves, helping identify, equip, and encourage more disciple-makers.

One of those people is Tony.

Just one week after giving his life to Christ in 2024, Tony felt God calling him to go out on the streets “to feed his children and bring them his word.” He didn’t have much, but he took a step of obedience. He made 18 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, wrote out scripture by hand, and headed out to share them.

Since then, Tony’s outreach has grown. Others have joined him, and his team now distributes more than 100 meals along three different routes. But the meals are only part of what happens. They pray with people, listen to their stories, share the gospel, and build relationships.

In 2025, Tony connected with Novo and learned about Discovery Bible Studies (DBSs). Now Amy and Gail are helping Tony and his team equip facilitators to lead DBSs along all three of their routes.

Tony’s story is one example of what Amy and Gail are seeing throughout Austin.

“Today we're watching Discovery Groups multiply around kitchen tables, in apartment complexes, on college campuses, in neighborhoods, among refugees, among adults with special needs, in homeless communities, inside businesses,” Gail shared. “We're seeing ordinary believers become disciple-makers. We're seeing new believers immediately begin discipling others.”

That’s what a gospel movement looks like: not a ministry built around a few extraordinary people, but ordinary people saying yes to Jesus—and helping others do the same.

See Every Spark

All around the world, the Holy Spirit is prompting people to say “yes” to Jesus in big and little ways. Each “yes” is a spark—and as these sparks multiply, gospel movements can begin.

Each spark on this map represents a place where people connected with Novo are saying “yes” to God. Every story offers a glimpse of how God is using these sparks to transform lives. And these are your stories, too—made possible by your “yes” to praying and partnering with Novo.

Thank you for sustaining these sparks and helping them multiply.
