Glasgow, Scotland | The Walkie-Talkies

When this journey began, only one of the women followed Jesus. Today, most of them do—and all have experienced a spiritual awakening.

In the northwest of Glasgow, one everyday disciple-maker said yes to a simple practice: prayer-walking in her local area. What began as a personal rhythm of prayer soon opened the door to a one-to-one discipleship journey with a friend.

Her friend was curious about the concept of prayer-walking to bless an area, listening to God’s voice for the people who live there, and looking for opportunities to share Jesus with whoever they might bump into along the way.

From there, a simple invitation took shape: if you love walking, enjoy experiencing the beauty of the Scottish countryside, and are interested in what it looks like to encounter God out in creation, come and join us.

Today, a group of women in their retirement years gather weekly under a name they’ve given themselves: the Walkie-Talkies. They intentionally walk together to learn what it means to journey through life with God at their side. Relationships have deepened and trust has grown, creating space for conversations about faith.

Those conversations have extended into their homes, too. The women have begun watching The Chosen TV series together as a way to spark discussion and discover more about Jesus together.

When this journey began, only one of the women followed Jesus. Today, most of them do—and all have experienced a spiritual awakening.

What started with one woman’s yes to prayer-walking has become a powerful reminder of how God can work through a simple act of obedience.
