Santa Clarita, California | Horchata Milkshakes and Letting the Holy Spirit Lead

So much ministry impact comes from first paying attention to God’s leading. In Santa Clarita, Brandon had just finished up dinner when he felt a Holy Spirit nudge to go to Del Taco. I don’t know, he thought. I think I just want a horchata milkshake. But he got in his car and went.

As he pulled up he saw a man he’d soon learn went by the name Marco Polo, and knew Polo was the reason he was at Del Taco. That night Brandon and Polo spent three hours talking, praying, and worshiping together. Brandon gave Polo his number…but Polo lost his phone later that same week.

Two weeks later, Brandon felt another nudge as he was driving past Dunkin' Donuts. He was on his way to an apartment complex for a prayer-walk, but he ended up texting the others joining for the prayer-walk that he wasn’t going to make it. He went to Dunkin.’ When he walked in, there was Marco Polo at the front counter, just about to pay. Polo turned toward Brandon:

“Did God send you?”

“I guess he did.”

That was the point where Brandon realized God must want the two of them to build a friendship. That friendship became a ministry to the homeless community of Santa Clarita, California. At the core of it is a Bible study that has had 50-60 people participate in the past year, some for just a time or two, some for weeks. They call it “Street Church.” And it’s just one of many ministries in Santa Clarita right now.
