Dallas, TX | Young Adult Revival [Video]
Record numbers of young people reported returning to faith and Novo is seeing it firsthand
Many young adults are taking part in Novo’s Activating Prayer and Disciple-Making Cohorts and engaging in outreach, and some are following Jesus for the first time.
There’s been a resurgence in faith in Jesus the last few years: Barna reports 30 million new people in the U.S. have a personal, meaningful, and committed faith—especially among Millennials and Gen Z—and there’s a similar trend in the UK.
This resurgence is happening in Dallas, where many young adults are taking part in Novo’s Activating Prayer and Disciple-Making Cohorts and engaging in outreach, and some are following Jesus for the first time. These young people are marked by spiritual depth, a deep love for Jesus, and courage.
Prophetic vision fulfilled when hundreds of new disciples are baptized in the school fountain
One place in Dallas where we are witnessing this great awakening is at Southern Methodist University (SMU), which has long been seen as a tough place for faith. It has been called “hard soil” so often that it’s begun to feel like a curse. Believing God had something better in store, Novo staff and committed young adults began engaging there several years ago.
During one of their first prayer-walks on campus, a Novo staff member saw a prophetic image of people being baptized in one of the fountains. On a later prayer-walk, students met a fountain technician who told them he had been praying over the fountains for revival on campus for seven years. This spring, the Novo team was a key leader for a Unite outreach event put on by students, for students. The event was attended by 3,000 students, around 300 gave their lives to Jesus, and 39 of them were baptized—in that same fountain! God is doing something truly amazing among young adults, even in the places we would least expect.
