In her work as a public servant and radio presenter, Betty heard the stories of many women in her community. Behind their smiles, they were struggling with challenges in their marriages, raising children, managing their homes, and longing to discover their value and purpose.
Betty realized these women didn’t simply need advice. They needed a place where they could be heard, encouraged, and reminded of who God created them to be.
“That is when Discovery Bible Study (DBS) became a powerful tool in our communities,” Betty said.
In partnership with Novo’s Global Partner in Uganda, Ava Mission, Betty began facilitating DBSs with groups of women. What started with just a few women has grown into a movement, with hundreds of women now encountering God’s word and experiencing transformation in their daily lives.
For one woman, God’s truth began to reshape her life at home. “For me, I had conflicts at home,” she shared. “But every time I would come and we study the Bible and pray together in my group with my fellow women, when I go back home, I also changed my ways. I also learned to love myself.”
As women explore God’s word together, they are discovering their identity, growing in hope, and finding purpose in Christ. And the message continues to spread from one woman to another.
“One woman transformed can influence a family, and one family transformed can change an entire community!” Betty said. What began as a small spark is spreading even further as more women say “yes” to Jesus.
