Western Asia | From Media to Movement

“One online conversation can become a Bible study. A Bible study can lead to a disciple. A disciple can become a disciple-maker. A disciple-maker can begin another group. That is how we are beginning to see generations of fruit.”

For almost six years, a group of local believers prayed for the right Kingdom partners, tools, and strategy to bring the gospel to Urdu and Punjabi-speaking people. They knew people were out there, hungry for good news—and searching for it online.

So they started reaching out through Facebook to find them, often using personal accounts and working without a developed strategy or dedicated funds. Doing so carried real risks because of restrictions around religious expression and increasing regulation of digital platforms. But they believed people were searching for answers—and the gospel needed to find pathways to them.

“Some people came to us unexpectedly through Facebook,” the team leader shares. “Ordinary conversations became spiritual conversations. Questions about life, suffering, purpose, hope, and faith opened doors to talk about Jesus. Some of these conversations became genuine spiritual encounters.”

“By God's grace, some individuals and families came to faith, were baptized, entered discipleship, and shared faith with others—some of them are Islamic religious leaders. Some have now become disciple-makers, leading their own groups and discipling others. We are beginning to see second and third generation fruit from relationships that started through social media.”

Novo’s Media to Movement team—now in their second year of ministry—found these courageous believers and locked arms with them. Through funding, strategy, tools, and encouragement, the team is helping sustain and strengthen what God has already ignited through their ministry.

“For me,” the local leader said, “Novo is more than a source of funding. It is a kingdom partnership that God has brought at the right time to help strengthen, protect, equip, and multiply what he has already begun.”

“One online conversation can become a Bible study. A Bible study can lead to a disciple. A disciple can become a disciple-maker. A disciple-maker can begin another group. That is how we are beginning to see generations of fruit.”

“We are praying for the Light of Christ to shine through every screen, conversation, Bible study, and follow-up—reaching homes across [the Urdu and Punjabi-speaking world] and opening hearts to Jesus.”
